The Republic of Lithuania plans to dismantle power lines with the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

The start of the relevant work is scheduled for spring next year.

TASS reports this with reference to Litgrid, the operator of Lithuania's power grids.

The Lithuanian organization stated that the shutdown of all lines in the Belarusian and Russian directions is planned for February 8.

It is expected that by that time the electricity supply agreement within the BRELL Electric Ring will no longer be in effect.

In addition, Litgrid emphasized that after the start of dismantling power lines with Russia and Belarus, the demolition of “unnecessary infrastructure” will begin.

It is worth noting that recently the highest executive body of Lithuania excluded the above-mentioned power lines from the list of objects of importance for national security.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Energy has stated the following: the country's power grids will be synchronized with continental Europe, which will eliminate the need for the republic to use lines in the Belarusian and Russian directions.
