Body of Sri Lankan citizen found on Belarusian border

The day before, Polotsk border guards discovered the body of a refugee on the Belarusian-Latvian border.

According to the State Border Committee of Belarus, since the beginning of the year, the bodies of 10 foreign citizens have been found on this section of the border, and over the past 24 hours this is the second such case in the republic.

The body of a refugee was found near the fence on the Belarusian-Latvian border, the Telegram channel of the State Border Service of Belarus reports.

This is already the second such case on the republic’s border in the past 24 hours, the department clarifies.

An investigative task force was called to the scene.

According to the Investigative Committee's Telegram channel, documents of a Sri Lankan citizen were found among the deceased's personal belongings.

An examination has been ordered.

All the circumstances of the incident, as well as the traces, were recorded by law enforcement officers.

The Braslav District Department of the Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation into this incident.

According to the State Civil Procedure Code, 10 foreign citizens have died on the Latvian border since the beginning of this year.

Since 2021, 58 refugees have fallen victim to EU migration policy.
