Self-employed individuals and artisans must pay contributions to the Social Security Fund no later than March 1 of the following year.

Deputy Head of the Social Security Fund Ekaterina Likhacheva explained what amounts are involved.

How the self-employed and artisans will pay contributions to the Social Security Fund

According to the law on business activities, a new category of payers has appeared who are obliged to pay contributions to the Social Security Fund.

These are artisans who pay the fee, the self-employed who pay the single tax, and payers of the fee in the field of agroecotourism.

As Likhacheva said in the “Actual Interview” on the “First Information” TV channel, previously these categories of citizens paid contributions to the Social Security Fund voluntarily.

Starting from October 1 of this year, this is an obligation, said the deputy head of the Social Security Fund.

Contributions are paid during the year, but no later than March 1 of the year following the reporting year.

This means that the first time contributions must be paid no later than March 1 of the following year for 3 months of the current year – October, November and December.

Contributions are paid from the amount of income established by the payer, but not less than the minimum wage, in the amount of 29%.

The monthly contributions will amount to 181.54 rubles, Likhacheva specified.

Pension recipients do not need to pay contributions. New payers will be informed about registration with the FSS bodies in the near future.

According to the deputy head of the Social Security Fund, cooperation has been established with the Ministry of Taxes and Levies, which keeps records of these citizens.

The Social Security Fund will take information from the Register of SMEs and automatically register them based on this information. The fund will receive the first data on the new category of payers this week.

Likhacheva added that new payers will not have to take any additional actions, they only need to pay their contributions on time.
