The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned of a mirror response to the potential resumption of nuclear testing by the United States.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Sergei Ryabkov stressed that if processes begin that indicate Washington's intention to resume nuclear testing, Moscow will not ignore this situation.
According to the Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian side will respond quickly in this case.
Ryabkov made the corresponding statement on the RT television channel.
We will not let up. Russia will immediately respond in kind, TASS quotes the diplomat as saying.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also commented on Russia’s withdrawal of ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, which occurred last fall.
Ryabkov emphasized that at that moment the Russian side "ran out of patience." The further situation, according to the diplomat, will depend on the actions of the West.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia drew attention to the following: the fact that Russia withdrew ratification of the Treaty does not indicate withdrawal from it.
According to a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow will continue to act “in accordance with the spirit and letter” of the CTBT.
