The program of his visit includes high-level negotiations and a visit to the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi will visit Belarus today for high-level meetings in the capital Minsk and a visit to the Ostrovets nuclear power plant, the statement said.

The information about the visit of the head of the IAEA to the Belarusian NPP and Minsk was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, as reported by Belta.

As for the statement by the press service of the international organization, it points to the plans of the CEO and his team at the NPP in Ostrovets to “assess the situation” 4 years after the station was connected to the grid.

High-ranking foreign guests will also be introduced to how the conclusions of the 2021 IAEA Operational Safety Review are being implemented.

According to the press service, the visit is taking place in the context of the agency’s increased attention to the issue of “nuclear security in the region.”
