A hunter's license does not give the right to shoot any animal.

The State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora under the President reminds us of this.

The State Inspectorate gave an example. The Bobruisk inter-district inspection was informed about the discovery of a place where an elk had been butchered in the forest.

State inspectors who arrived at the scene determined that the elk had been killed illegally.

As a result of operational activities, two men were detained who attempted to conceal the fact of illegal extraction of the animal by destroying its remains.

It was determined that one of the men had been legally hunting waterfowl the previous day, but had given in to temptation and shot an elk that had come at him.

The man enlisted the help of a friend, also a hunter, to cut up and transport the carcass. They divided the game meat between themselves.

The investigative task force of the Bobruisk District Department of Internal Affairs seized more than 80 kilograms of elk meat, parts of the skin, an axe, shovels, knives for cutting up the carcass, registered hunting rifles and cartridges, including for rifled weapons, as well as prohibited fishing gear.

The damage caused amounted to 300 BV (especially large amount). A criminal case was opened against the hunters under Part 4 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code.

An investigation is underway into the illegal storage of cartridges for rifled weapons.
