Putin Increases Number of Russian Armed Forces

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on increasing the staffing levels of the Armed Forces.

According to the document, which comes into force on December 1, the staffing level of the Russian Armed Forces will increase to almost 2.4 million people.

The decree was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

By how much will the staffing level of the Russian Armed Forces increase?

The decree establishes the staffing level of the Russian Armed Forces at 2,389,130 people, including 1,500,000 military personnel.

The government has been instructed to allocate the necessary funds from the budget to the Ministry of Defense to implement the decree.

The previous increase in the staffing levels of the Russian Armed Forces took place in December of last year.

It then increased to 2,209,130 people, including 1,320,000 military personnel.

Thus, from December 1, the staffing level of the Russian Armed Forces will increase by 180,000 people.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev reported that approximately 190,000 people have signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense.

In early September, Putin reported a sharp increase in the number of people wishing to become contract soldiers against the backdrop of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Kursk region.
