There are two suitable periods for planting phlox: spring, after the snow melts, and the end of the season - from late August to early October (depending on the climate of the region in which you live).

The main thing is to have time to plant the rhizome 3-4 weeks before the onset of frost, so that the flower has time to take root before the beginning of winter.

That is why right now many gardeners are heading to garden centers for phlox seedlings.

If you want a carpet of phlox to decorate your garden for many years, you should pay attention to the quality of the seedling you purchase.

As a rule, phlox rhizomes are sold in transparent bags, wrapped in peat or sawdust.

Such packaging allows you to thoroughly examine the planting material: during the inspection, make sure that the phlox has live buds. They may even begin to grow a little.

If the seedling is healthy, its root system will be well developed and will have many branches.

Before paying for your purchase, make sure that most of the phlox roots are alive and light in color.
