Belarusians were reminded that in order to be assigned a labor pension based on age, they must have work experience with payment of insurance contributions to the social security fund, i.e. insurance experience.

This year the insurance period is 19 years and 6 months.

Next year and in subsequent years it will increase by six months – up to 20 years.

The press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection reported this.

The department informed that periods of work, entrepreneurial, creative and other activities during which insurance contributions were paid to the social security fund are counted towards the insurance period.

According to the Ministry of Labor, the following periods are not included in the insurance period:

– military service (except for the period of compulsory military service after January 1, 2020);
– full-time study;
– care for children under 3 years of age, disabled children, disabled persons of the 1st group, people aged 80 years and older;
- receiving unemployment benefits.

At the same time, these periods are taken into account when determining the total length of service, based on which the pension amount is calculated, the press service noted.

As well as the fact that for periods after July 1, 1998, the insurance period is calculated taking into account the level of income of the employee from which insurance contributions were paid.

In particular, if such contributions were paid for a calendar year (or less, if in that year the employee was hired or fired, or was registered or excluded from the number of payers of insurance contributions) from income below the minimum wage, the insurance period is “adjusted downwards using a correction coefficient.”
