Leaders of international sect taken into custody in Belarus

A criminal case has been opened against the leaders and members of the extremist group “Russian Orthodox Church – Tsarist Empire” in Belarus.

The destructive religious organization operates on an international scale, and its adherents preach the creation of an independent “Triune Rus'”.

The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus has opened a criminal case against the leaders of the international sect, BELTA reports with reference to the Investigative Committee.

The members of the sect are waiting for the establishment of an independent state, the “Triune Rus'”.

Those who accept the teaching are settled in huts of abandoned and remote settlements. The sect is controlled by the organizers.

Adherents are persuaded to give up documents, medical and social services, and contact with relatives and the outside world.

The price of “salvation” is donations in monetary terms, as well as expensive property and real estate.

In addition, members of the organization were required to take an oath to the emperor.

Current laws, regulations and other signs of the state system were ignored.

Activities in Belarus

Since May 2023, the sect has been recruiting new followers using Internet resources to carry out extremist activities.

The Investigative Committee names the following as the main goals of the international sect in Belarus:

  • discrediting the Republic of Belarus;
  • incitement of racial, national, religious and other social hatred and discord, political and ideological hatred;
  • hostility towards representatives of traditional Christian values;
  • production, publication, storage, transportation and distribution of extremist materials.

The work of the religious underground was stopped by the officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

The investigation has information that the sect’s “branches” operate in Russia, Ukraine and Moldova.

The detainees are in custody, one of the accused is wanted. The investigation is ongoing.
