On September 5, the Latvian Saeima approved in the first reading a draft law prohibiting the presence of cars registered in Belarus in the country.
This is reported by Latvian media.
Since the bill has been assigned an urgent status, it will be approved in two readings, not three.
According to the document, cars with Belarusian license plates must be exported or registered in Latvia by October 31.
After this period, cars with Belarusian registration will be able to enter Latvia only once for transit.
To do this, you will need to submit an application in advance through the electronic services system of the Road Safety Directorate.
There are two exceptions: they will apply to persons with limited mobility visiting relatives in Latvia, and in special cases related to security (permission from the Financial Intelligence Service will be required for entry).
It is noted that in case of violation of the ban, the car may be confiscated in favor of Ukraine.
