353 ballerinas gathered at once in the lobby of the Plaza Hotel in New York.
Dancing on pointe, they set a new world record, which was entered into the Guinness Book of Records.
An excerpt from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s opera “Eugene Onegin” was chosen as the musical accompaniment.
The dance lasted for a minute: during this time, the ballerinas performed a bourrée, that is, a series of small dance steps.
The event is organized by the world's largest international ballet scholarship competition, Youth America Grand Prix, which provides scholarships for students aged 9 to 19.
The dance participants included both project participants and its graduates – professional dancers.
As a result, representatives from 20 American states, as well as from Japan, China, Germany and Portugal, came to New York.
By the way, the previous record was set in the same city. Here, in September 2019, 306 ballerinas performed the dance.
