It is not only natural disasters and wars that threaten the well-being of humanity.

A small insect, 4-6 cm in size, can cause hunger and other unfavorable phenomena.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the most destructive insect on the planet is the desert locust.

The pest lives in Africa and the Middle East.

Despite its modest size, the insect causes damage to wildlife and agriculture that experts call irreparable.

When certain weather conditions occur, locusts gather in swarms that look like real clouds from the outside.

It is impossible to count how many individuals can migrate in one such flock.

When gathered together, the insects move at speeds of up to 15 kilometers per hour.

If the wind is favorable, the speed increases to 40 kilometers.

Clouds of pests migrate in the morning or evening, and their appearance is accompanied by a loud chirping sound.

At the same time, one wave of pests is replaced by another, and even a third.

The locusts destroy everything that appears on their path.

The voracious pest eats everything from fruits and inflorescences to tough stems.

Female pests produce offspring up to 5 times a year and up to 150 eggs at a time.

The spread of locusts could only be stopped by chemical means.
