How Much Does the Heaviest Watermelon Grown in an Apartment Weigh: Impressive Figures

Russian Karolina Ovchinnikova decided to grow watermelons at home and became a record holder.

A woman from the city of Kungur, Perm Krai, was recognized as the owner of the heaviest watermelon grown in an apartment.

Of course, she would hardly have been able to achieve such an impressive result if she had used the first watermelon seed she came across.

But Carolina took a responsible approach to choosing seed material, choosing the Carolina Cross variety out of all the existing ones.

In natural conditions, watermelons of this variety can reach 30-40 kg, but since the process took place in an apartment environment, and not in a greenhouse, the harvest weighed a little less.

Let's not keep you in suspense - after the watermelon was placed on the scale, the measuring device showed that its weight was 23.865 kg.

This success was officially confirmed by experts of the International Book of Records INTERRECORD: Official Excellence on November 22, 2024 and entered into the Register of Records of Russia.

Ovchinnikova owes her success, of course, to her own hard work, but she also had little “helpers” – phytolamps.

The lamps whose light accompanied the watermelon during its growth emitted light as close as possible to sunlight.

In addition, Carolina strictly followed the fertilization schedule and watered the watermelon strictly on schedule.

It took a long 155 days from pollination until the record was set.

Surely, Caroline will remember these days for a long time - after all, according to her own words, the experiment she started was truly difficult, but at the same time exciting.
