Everyone knows what happens to a person as soon as his body temperature rises above 37.

But this is not the highest mark in the history of medicine. A unique record was set by 52-year-old American Willie Jones.

He ended up in hospital one July day, which is how he got into the Guinness Book of Records.

The cause was heat stroke, after which the American's temperature jumped to 46.7 degrees Celsius.

This happened not during the pandemic of a new type of coronavirus infection, but back in 1980.

That day, the air temperature rose to 32.2 degrees Celsius with air humidity of 44%.

It is believed that for Atlanta, where this story happened, this is not the highest figure.

The minimum air temperature in the history of observations here was 22.7 degrees, and the maximum was 41.1.

When Jones was taken to hospital, doctors assessed his condition as critical.

It is known that a human body temperature above 41 is called super-feverish in medicine.

Nevertheless, the American was saved. However, he spent 24 days in the hospital.
