From 1672 to 1727, the Sultan of Morocco was Moulay Ismail ibn Sherif.
This man went down in history not only as the ruler of the country, but also as the father of the largest number of children.
Ismail al-Samin had... several hundred children.
Moulay Ismail ibn Sherif was born in 1645 in the Moroccan region of Tafilalet.
In 1672, he became the second Alaouite ruler of Morocco.
It is known that Ismail al-Samin had 500 concubines. These women bore him many children.
It is known for sure that the Moroccan Sultan had 700 sons. But there is no information about the number of daughters.
The Guinness Book of Records states that the total number of children of Ismail al-Samin is 888.
True, there is a version according to which the ruler had almost 1200 sons and daughters.
Incidentally, one of Ismail's sons became the next Sultan of Morocco. We are talking about Moulay Ahmed ibn Ismail, who ruled from 1727 to 1729 (with a short break in 1728).
