Did you know that some birds can fly for months without landing?
The record holder for the longest continuous stay in the air is the swift.
Swedish scientists have proven that this bird can go 10 months without landing.
Welsh ornithologist Ronald Lockley suggested back in the 1970s that swifts were capable of staying in the air for months at a time.
However, this was only proven in 2016 by scientists from Lund University.
For several years, researchers monitored 13 swifts using special sensors.
The results of the study amazed the scientists. Swifts were on the ground only twice a year, and three birds were in the air for 10 months.
