“Finding a skin of this size is a problem, but we were lucky”: how the largest Nenets drum was created
The largest Nenets drum, with a diameter of 90 cm, was presented by the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO) at the International Exhibition and Forum "Russia" at VDNKh.
This took place as part of the Region Day in 2023.
Due to its impressive size, the product was awarded the honor of being included in the Russian Book of Records.
The tambourine was made by the well-known local master Valery Gudyrev.
It took him about half a year to create the drum. The main difficulty was finding a large deer skin.
“Finding a skin of this size is a problem, but we were lucky,” the regional administration’s press service quotes Valery as saying.
By the way, this is not the only achievement of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
In 2019, the region baked the largest pie made of northern berries weighing 207 kg, and three years later, a record was set for the weight of venison burgers - 111 kilograms. In the fall of 2023, 125 kg of fish kalitki were baked in the district.
