27.05.2024 08:42

The number pi is a mathematical constant that is equal to the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.

Pi cannot be expressed as an integer or with a limited number of decimal places.

The number can be found in many mathematical formulas. It is also used for various fields of science, but for practical calculations it is enough to know only 15 decimal places: 3.141592653589793.

In 2022, Google set a record for accuracy by calculating 100 trillion decimal places. It took them almost 158 days.

Two years later, the record was broken as part of an advertising campaign by the American computer hardware company Solidigm.

Its employees set a new world record by calculating 105 trillion digits of pi after the decimal point.

The calculation took 75 days and used 1 million gigabytes of data.

According to Solidigm representatives, the new calculations were aimed at demonstrating the capabilities of the memory cards being released.
