There is a hotel in Japan that has been operating for over 1,300 years.
The facility is called Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan and is located near the Akaishi Mountains in the Japanese town of Hayakawa.
The town itself is located in Yamanashi Prefecture.
Hot springs tourism is a popular industry in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Various infrastructure facilities, including hotels, are often built near the latter.
Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan was built near one of these springs.
The hotel was founded by Mahita Fujiwara and opened as a temporary accommodation for visitors in 705.
During the entire existence of the institution, it was managed by representatives of only one family.
There is an interesting fact: in 13 centuries, the hotel has been renovated only once. The corresponding works were started and finished at the end of the 20th century.
In 2011, Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan was included in the Guinness Book of Records, receiving the status of the oldest hotel on the planet.
