When you lose a glove or miss the last tram, think of Fran Selak from Croatia, who survived seven accidents and ended up winning a million dollars.

Up until a certain point, his life was boring and predictable, but eventually the whole world found out about him.

Allthatsinteresting tells the story of the unluckiest person in chronological order.

Misfortunes never come alone

In 1962, Selak was riding on a train that derailed and plunged into a river. Seventeen people died and our hero broke his arm.

In 1963, a man was forced to fly on a plane. Just before landing, due to a strange coincidence, the door swung open and the unfortunate man fell overboard.

He was lucky to land on a haystack while the plane crashed and all the passengers died.

In 1966, a bus trip ended with the driver losing control and the bus ending up in the river. Four people died, and Selak suffered only wounds and bruises.

In 1970, while driving his own car, a fire broke out – the fuel tank caught fire. The car exploded after the man managed to run away.

In 1973, Frane Selak was involved in a car accident, the car caught fire and exploded a few seconds after the driver got out of it, almost uninjured.

In 1995, a man was hit by a bus and received minor injuries.

In 1996, there was another accident, as a result of which the car flew off a mountain road and hung on a tree over a 100-meter abyss.

But in 2003, perhaps the strangest event occurred: Frane Selak won one million dollars in the lottery.

How it all ended

In 2010, the man gave away all his savings to relatives and friends and lived outside the city, closing his eyes forever in 2016.
