Who became the oldest parachutist in the world: it's a woman, and she's over 100 years old
In February 2023, Dorothy Hofner, a resident of Chicago, USA, made a tandem skydive with an instructor, thus becoming the oldest skydiver in the world.
At that time, the woman was 104 years old.
Her achievement unofficially broke the record that was previously set in 2022 by Sweden's Ruth Larson, who was 103 years old.
Video footage of the event was released by Skydive Chicago.
It shows Hofner bowing after landing in response to applause and congratulations from the assembled crowd.
Company representatives have announced their intention to apply to the Guinness Book of Records for official recognition of this achievement.
It is known that Dorothy Hofner made her first parachute jump when she was 100 years old.
