The pupil of all people is always black. Only the iris is different. The most common eye color in the world is considered to be brown, or hazel.

And in order to find out which color is considered the rarest, it was necessary to conduct research.

The rarest eye color

Research on this topic was conducted by specialists from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2014.

It turned out that people with green irises are the least common.

There are only 9% of such people.

"Hazel" eye color was found in 18% of people.

Blue-eyed people make up 27% of the population, while brown-eyed people make up 45% of the population.

But there is another group of people that is even rarer - these are cases of albinism, which does not exceed 1% of people.

These are people with eye color that does not fall into the categories described.

This feature is found in 1 in 20,000 people. People can even have red or pink eyes.

This happens because the iris remains transparent, but the blood vessels color it pink or red.

Even less common is heterochromia, when a person may have one brown eye and the other blue.
