NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte plans to discuss Ukraine with US President-elect Donald Trump and urge him not to give in to Russia.

This was reported by the American publication The Washington Post, citing sources.

What Rutte Wants to Discuss with Trump

According to WP , the NATO Secretary General will soon arrive at Trump's residence in Florida to discuss the strategy for negotiations on Ukraine.

Rutte's message will be that it is in the interests of Trump and Europe to have a just and lasting peace that does not involve concessions to Russia and provides reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.

The NATO Secretary General will advise Trump to resolve the Ukrainian issue in such a way that this problem does not haunt him during his presidential term, the publication says.

According to the publication, European leaders expect Rutte to become Europe's leading representative in discussions with Trump.

The NATO secretary general himself is urging European leaders to call Trump. Those who have already done so say the US president-elect has been friendlier in their conversations than expected.

In particular, in a conversation with the head of the German government, Olaf Scholz, Trump did not make demands on the Ukrainian issue, but asked for his interlocutor’s opinion.
