Alexander Lukashenko told journalists that he is taking the current presidential election campaign calmly.

He admitted that he was afraid that he might be accused of being lax and lacking fighting spirit.

The head of state spoke about this during a conversation with a journalist from the Belarus 1 TV channel , who aired part of the dialogue.

Then I will tell you why I take these elections so calmly. This is very important to me. This is fundamental to me, the President said.

He noted separately that no one holds power in Belarus, and Lukashenko does not see anything bad in the fact that the parties “put forward their own person.”

He explained: since they are parties, they must declare themselves regardless of whether they win or lose the elections, which, by the way, will soon become known.

Therefore, this campaign has started normally. It has not started yet, but the first step has been taken. A normal step, I think, - the Belarusian leader emphasized.

To the journalist’s remark that “we still feel your fighting spirit,” Lukashenko responded as follows:

Well, you feel it because you have been around for many years and you see it. Of course, we will fight for our Belarus.
