British Defence Secretary John Healey said the conflict in Ukraine had entered a critical phase.
In this regard, he initiated the strengthening of the defensive potential of NATO member countries.
The head of the department made this statement to journalists following a conversation with colleagues from Germany, France, Italy and Poland.
The war in Ukraine has entered a critical phase, and the time has come for Europe to start doing more to ensure its security and collective defense, TASS quotes Healy as saying.
He noted that NATO's eastern borders are currently being strengthened, and partnership in the development of air defense systems and long-range missiles is expanding.
In addition, according to the minister, work is underway to “activate joint industrial programs of our military-industrial complex enterprises.”
He also reported that the issue of increasing military spending was discussed during the negotiations.
Separately, the parties discussed the need to “take on more responsibility” for ensuring European security.
