The US State Department has called on Americans to leave Belarus immediately.
Those planning a trip to the republic were strongly advised to refrain from visiting Belarus.
The US authorities justified such advice by the fact that, as stated in the statement, Washington will not be able to help its fellow countrymen on Belarusian territory.
This was reported by the ONT TV channel with reference to a message published on the official website of the US Department of State.
Fourth level
The State Department confirmed the fourth risk level – “do not visit.”
In this regard, US citizens are advised to refrain from traveling to Belarus, and those who are currently in the republic are advised to leave the country immediately.
The State Department kindly asks its fellow countrymen in Belarus not to attend mass events and to “log out of social networks.”
It is also strongly recommended to “reconsider the issue of transporting electronic devices” into the republic.
Additionally, Americans are advised to register for the STEP system to receive notifications and facilitate emergency communications.
They are also advised to develop a contingency plan in case unforeseen circumstances arise.
What is the reason?
The State Department cited the current risks in Belarus for compatriots as the reason for this type of warning.
The department cited “arbitrary detention, conditions of detention, and the possibility of border crossings being closed without warning” as such risks.
In addition, the United States declares Minsk’s “support” for the Russian Central Military District.
Washington has once again warned that if Americans are detained in Belarus, there are no guarantees that assistance will be provided to them.
