Russia counts on a responsible position from other countries on issues of nuclear deterrence.
This was stated on November 21 by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, commenting at a briefing on the statement of the US Department of Defense about readiness to exchange nuclear strikes.
The Kremlin representative's words are quoted by TASS .
Pentagon Strategic Command spokesman Thomas Buchanan said the United States does not seek a nuclear exchange, but is prepared for one.
The Kremlin spokesman stressed that Russia takes a responsible position on issues of nuclear deterrence and makes every effort to prevent a nuclear conflict.
We expect that other countries will also take the same responsible position and not engage in provocative actions, said the press secretary of the head of the Russian state.
On November 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a new version of the nuclear doctrine.
According to the document, aggression by any non-nuclear country with the support of a nuclear state will be considered a joint attack on Russia.
