Belarus is seeking a place at the negotiating table on Ukraine. The relevant agreements must also take into account Minsk's interests.
This statement was made by the Deputy Head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yuri Ambrazevich.
According to him, Minsk, like no one else, is interested in a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, Belta reports .
The diplomat argued his interest in the extremely difficult situation that has developed on the republic’s southern borders.
That is why he calls the West’s accusations of aiding aggression “absurd.”
Situated next to Ukraine, Belarus, like no one else, is interested in a speedy peaceful resolution of this conflict, the deputy minister assured.
He said it was only logical that no country wanted to see "military action raging" on its borders.
For this reason, Ambrazevich added, Belarus has been taking peacekeeping steps to prevent the escalation of the situation since the beginning of the conflict.
And that is why we have stated from the very beginning that we are seeking a place at the peace negotiating table on Ukraine when they begin,” he explained.
He also noted the importance for Belarus to receive guarantees of its own security.
The final agreements must necessarily take into account the interests of the Belarusian side, the diplomat said.
