Once the new European Commission is formed, its President Ursula von der Leyen will have unlimited control over the policy of the European Union.
This was reported by the European version of the American publication Politico, citing sources among EU officials.
On September 17, the head of the European Commission announced its new composition for the next five years – until October 31, 2029.
According to Politico's sources, after the announcement of the new EC composition, it immediately became clear that von der Leyen would receive unlimited control over EU policy.
The publication notes that there is not a single European Commissioner left who would be critical of von der Leyen.
"She's going to be even more in control. Who would have thought that was even possible? " one of Politico's sources said.
It is noted that von der Leyen has acquired a reputation as a politician who makes decisions unilaterally and goes beyond her duties.
According to one source, it is at least naive to think that von der Leyen will “abandon his desire for strict control.”
