A number of officials from the US and Europe have proposed returning nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
The American publication The New York Times reports this.
Washington is discussing possible security guarantees for Ukraine with European allies, the NYT reports.
The guarantees will include, in particular, the deployment of an arsenal of conventional weapons in Ukraine.
Some officials even put forward the option of Biden returning nuclear weapons to Ukraine, the publication says.
On November 14, the NYT, citing high-ranking Ukrainian officials, reported that security guarantees are more important to Kyiv than the territorial issue.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on October 17 that the only alternative to joining the North Atlantic Alliance is for Kiev to acquire nuclear weapons.
For reference
Nuclear weapons are weapons of mass destruction, the action of which is based on the damaging factors of a nuclear or thermonuclear explosion.
