Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev commented on the statement by the candidate for Chancellor of Germany from the Christian Democratic Union Friedrich Merz about Russia's ultimatum.
Medvedev published his comment on Telegram.
The CDU leader said that if elected chancellor, he would call Russian President Vladimir Putin and give him an ultimatum to end military action within 24 hours.
If Russia refuses, Germany will lift the restriction on the use of weapons transferred to Ukraine and will transfer long-range Taurus missiles.
Medvedev stated that Merz's ultimatum is of a pre-election nature, and the transfer of Taurus missiles will only prolong Kyiv's agony.
At the same time, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council continued, cruise missile strikes will greatly increase the risk of the conflict escalating to its most dangerous stage.
According to Medvedev, it is simply amazing to what extent the current generation of European politicians wants to drag the war onto their territory.
The deputy head of the Russian Security Council stated that the vaccination from World War II has ceased to work, and experienced leaders in Europe have been replaced by nonentities with inflated self-esteem.
This means that the worst scenario remains the most likely one, Medvedev summed up.
