As part of the event “Open Microphone with the President”, which took place on November 22 at the MSLU, Alexander Lukashenko spoke about the fate of the negotiations on Ukraine.
The head of state noted that he is not asking for mediation in the settlement, but Belarus is interested in a peaceful end to the conflict.
We are three Slavic nations. No Americans, no Europeans – no one will do anything good for us or help us. We must sit down and come to an agreement, BELTA quotes Alexander Lukashenko as saying.
At the same time, the President explained why the meeting should take place in Belarus.
Because it is at our fence, at our border. And our interests must be respected. We want our interests not to be infringed upon when they negotiate on Ukraine, the President explained.
And only for this reason does the head of state provide certain assistance to the parties to the conflict, and not in order to “get noticed.”
Alexander Lukashenko stressed that he does not want war to start on Belarusian soil.
However, the escalation continues and if a clash between Russia and NATO begins, it will also be difficult for the Belarusians.
For reference
Negotiations are communication between parties (negotiators) to achieve their goals, in which each party has equal opportunities to control the situation and make a decision, which is secured by an agreement.
