Russia has responded to the publication of the French newspaper Le Monde about the West’s alleged intention to send its military to Ukraine.

The issue was clarified by the Kremlin's official representative Dmitry Peskov.

He reported that there is no unity among European elites regarding the idea of sending their soldiers or at least private mercenaries to Ukraine.

However, some “hotheads” are considering this possibility, the Russian president’s press secretary said, as reported by the TASS agency.

Let us recall that the aforementioned newspaper reported on the resumption of talks in the EU regarding sending troops to Ukraine against the backdrop of the possible refusal of the US to support Kyiv under the presidency of Donald Trump.

Peskov said it was unknown “to what extent these reports correspond to reality.”

He admitted that similar ideas had been voiced in European countries before, but counterarguments had also been made.

There is no consensus among Europeans on this matter, but, of course, some “hot heads” appear, the Kremlin representative noted.

The Kremlin (one of the meanings) is a metonym adopted in publicistic vocabulary to designate the highest circles of power in the USSR and the Russian Federation.
