According to former Supreme Commander of the North Atlantic Alliance James Stavridis, US President-elect Donald Trump will achieve peace, as a result of which Ukraine will cede 20% of its territory.
The former NATO commander-in-chief expressed this opinion on the American television channel CNN.
According to Stavridis, Trump will end the conflict according to the Korean scenario.
Ukraine, the former NATO commander-in-chief continued, will be forced to cede 20% of its territory, but will receive “a real path to the alliance in three to five years.”
This is not the worst result in the world, Stavridis stated.
The former NATO commander noted that peace negotiations will take months.
Ukraine’s accession to NATO could be accomplished within a couple of years, he specified.
Stavridis also said he would vote to award Trump the Nobel Peace Prize if he ended the conflict within 24 hours.
Trump has repeatedly criticized the administration of US President Joseph Biden for providing aid to Ukraine and promised to end the conflict before his inauguration.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky linked Trump's idea of a quick end to the conflict to territorial concessions from Ukraine.
Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov recently called Trump's plan an exaggeration.
