Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that Washington may stop supporting Kyiv if Donald Trump returns to the White House.
The Ukrainian leader did not deny that the risk of the above-described scenario really exists.
However, Zelensky added that Ukraine has an “internal plan” of action in the event of the end of support from the United States.
The politician made the corresponding statement during a press conference that took place in Iceland, TASS reports.
According to the Ukrainian leader, he has not heard the US presidential candidate mention plans to cancel support for the Ukrainian side.
Zelensky added that he is not sure that Trump will take such a step if he wins the election and again becomes the American leader.
At the same time, the politician acknowledged that there is still a risk that aid from Washington will be stopped if the Republican representative wins.
The Ukrainian leader is confident that such a development of events will be a victory for Russia and a defeat for the West.
Zelensky stressed that in such a case, Ukraine has an “internal plan” for its own strengthening.
However, the politician did not deny that it would be very difficult for Kyiv to act in the absence of support from the United States.
