The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the results of the referendum on European integration held in Moldova on October 20 to be falsified.
This was stated on October 23 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
Her statement is quoted by MIA "Russia Today" .
Last Sunday, presidential elections and a referendum on European integration took place in Moldova.
Since none of the candidates for the post of head of state received more than 50% of the votes, there will be a second round, in which the incumbent President Maia Sandu, who received 42.49% of the votes in the first round, and the candidate from the Party of Socialists, Alexandru Stoianoglo, who received 25.95%, will participate.
As for the referendum, 50.46% of voters voted for European integration, 49.54% were against.
The final results of the referendum were ensured at the last moment, that is, falsified, Zakharova stated.
According to her, the people of Moldova said a decisive “no” to European integration, but the republic’s leadership did everything to hide these disastrous results for itself.
