Several months ago, however, Guterres refused to participate in a conference on Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not like the decision of the UN representative to visit the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in the context of his refusal to participate in an event that was held in the summer in the Swiss canton of Nidwalden.
The UN Secretary General has declined Ukraine's invitation to the first global peace summit in Switzerland. However, he has accepted the invitation to visit Kazan, MIA " Russia Today " quotes a translated quote from the department's statement.
The Eastern European country's foreign ministry called the choice of the UN's top official "wrong."
The department believes that Guterres’ decision “does not contribute to the cause of peace” and “undermines the reputation” of the above-mentioned international organization.

Earlier, it became known about the plans of the UN Secretary General to take part in this event.
Guterres is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan on Thursday, October 24.
The participants will discuss important topics, including the crisis in the Middle East and the Ukrainian situation.
