One of the American publications reported on the European Union’s plans to tighten anti-Russian sanctions.
It is reported that the European union may take such a step after the end of Hungary's presidency of the EU Council.
TASS drew attention to the corresponding publication in the Politico newspaper.
According to a report by an American media outlet, the EU plans to increase sanctions pressure on Russia after Poland becomes the chairman of one of the union’s legislative bodies.
It is emphasized that Warsaw has “already made it clear” that it intends to use its upcoming six-month leadership in the European Union to tighten controls over fuel that comes from Russia to the European Union.
According to a publication in Politico, a representative of one of the Polish departments stated the need to “correct” the situation with the growth of imports of Russian energy resources.
It is also reported that Viktor Orban “used” Hungary’s presidency of the Council of the European Union to effectively halt negotiations on sanctions.
Now the EU is counting on the resumption of this process after the start of Poland's presidency.
