EU Ambassadors Agree on Mechanism for Providing Ukraine with €35 Billion Loan

Permanent representatives of the European Union countries have agreed on a mechanism for providing Ukraine with a loan of 35 billion euros.

The Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union announced this on the social network X.

What mechanism for allocating a loan to Ukraine has been agreed upon?

According to the Hungarian Presidency of the EU Council, the permanent representatives of the EU countries have agreed on a mechanism for providing Ukraine with a loan of 35 billion euros, to be repaid from income from frozen Russian assets.

The written procedure for approval of this credit line in the EU Council has been launched.

To complete the procedure and finally approve the loan, the approval of the European Parliament is required.

The loan is part of a loan agreed upon by the G7 countries, which is expected to amount to 45 billion euros.

In addition, EU ambassadors launched the procedure for approving two documents supplementing the main sanctions mechanisms against the Russian Federation.
