Alexander Lukashenko addressed the Germans: he congratulated them on their country’s national holiday – German Unity Day.

He informed the addressees of the message that “Belarusians know very well the true meaning” of the concept of “unity.”

He noted that for almost 20 years the people of the republic were divided by artificial borders, which, naturally, could not contribute to the normal development of the country.

And then, says the congratulations published by the press service of the head of state, there was the Second World War, in which every third resident of Belarus died.

These terrible facts should not be forgotten by either Belarusians or Germans, the President emphasized.

He noted that they often talk about the impossibility of correcting the course of history.

But we are not just witnesses to modern events, we have influence on them and can change the negative development scenario, the Belarusian leader is convinced.

As well as the fact that the current generation of his fellow countrymen and residents of Germany have a lot in common and understand each other better than, for example, a century ago.

Invaluable experience of contacts in a wide variety of industries has been accumulated. Minsk carefully preserves them no matter what, the message notes.

The President also stated that “the doors of our home are always open to guests from Germany and other countries.”

For those people, he specified, who come to Belarus “with a pure heart,” sincerely wishing good.

I believe that very soon, the value of unity, which was so difficult for us to achieve, will be supplemented by agreement and mutual understanding. Welcome to Belarus! – the head of state concluded.
