The Kremlin commented on the change of NATO Secretary General

The Kremlin stated that the change of the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance will not affect the organization’s policies.

This statement was made on October 1 by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.

His statement is quoted by TASS .

What Peskov said about the change of NATO Secretary General

Today, Jens Stoltenberg was replaced as Secretary General of the alliance by former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.

Our expectations are that NATO will continue to work in the same direction, Peskov commented.

The Kremlin representative noted that the alliance’s new Secretary General is well known to Moscow.

According to Peskov, Rutte and Putin once spent more than one hour at the negotiating table, discussing the construction of pragmatic and good relations.

Subsequently, Putin's press secretary continued, the Netherlands took an uncompromising position and completely excluded contacts with Russia.

We don’t think that anything new or significant will happen in the alliance’s policy, ” the Kremlin representative summed up.
