Mark Rutte, who officially took office as NATO Secretary General on 1 October 2024, has already made an important statement.
It concerns the issue of permission for Ukraine to strike Russian territory with Western weapons.
The new Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance generally approved the possibility of granting such a right.
However, Rutte drew attention to the fact that such decisions “will be made by each country of the Alliance itself,” writes the TASS agency.
According to a senior official, Kyiv's right to defend its lands "does not stop at the border."
He believes that Ukraine has the right to use long-range Western weapons to strike at Russian territory.
However, I cannot make this decision; each country of the Alliance will make it itself,” Rutte clarified, giving his press conference at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
