Alexander Lukashenko warned Belarusians about the upcoming difficult times associated with the election campaign, a modern “battlefield”.

The President made this statement on September 26 during the consideration of personnel issues.

In light of the discussion of key tasks for the coming period for local government leaders, Lukashenko told them not to be afraid of anyone in their country.

He assured them: "We will not just break through, we will do everything that we must do."

People believe in us, trust us, and we must not disappoint their expectations, the head of state’s press service quotes him as saying .

At the same time, he warned that the republic faces difficult times due to the upcoming elections.

An electoral campaign is always a front, it is always a battlefield, the Belarusian leader explained.

He also said that it is a mistake to think that a “purge” was carried out in the country – only those “who needed to be purge” fled.

The President emphasized that Belarus is approaching the elections as a different country than before, since the situation has changed and the times are different now.

We, the authorities, have completely different positions,” he said.

He also warned that citizens who fled Belarus still want to destabilize the situation in their homeland.

According to the head of state, their last resort is to carry out an armed invasion of the territory of Belarus.

Therefore, along with harvesting and other economic issues, I have to pay great attention to the defense capability of our country, Alexander Lukashenko informed.
