According to the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, there can be no peace in Ukraine without its accession to NATO.
The NATO Secretary General expressed this opinion in an interview with Foreign Policy.
The NATO Secretary General reported that the alliance countries have not yet been able to reach a consensus on inviting Ukraine to the organization.
At the same time, Stoltenberg stated that peace is impossible without Ukraine joining NATO.
In the long term, there can be no peace in Ukraine without Ukraine becoming part of NATO, the head of the organization said.
Ukraine applied for accelerated membership in the alliance on September 30, 2022.
High-ranking officials from NATO countries have repeatedly stated that Ukraine’s admission to the alliance is impossible until military actions are completed.
Last December, US President Joseph Biden said that NATO would undoubtedly be in Ukraine's future, but only after the end of hostilities, the consent of all alliance countries, and the fulfillment of all conditions.
That same month, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine's admission to NATO was unacceptable to Moscow in any historical perspective.
Following the July summit of the alliance, it was stated that Ukraine is on an irreversible path to NATO membership.
