The US is unlikely to officially allow Ukraine to strike with Western weapons deep into Russia.
The Economist reports this, citing officials.
The Economist points out that Washington is constantly changing its reason for refusing to lift restrictions on the use of American weapons for strikes deep into the Russian Federation.
U.S. officials do not want to jeopardize a future reset in relations with Russia, several officials said.
Other officials argue that lifting the restrictions will not change the strategic situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The publication notes that the real reason for the reluctance of the US President Joseph Biden administration to change its approach on this issue is almost certainly the fear of escalating relations with Moscow.
If Biden does concede after meeting with Zelensky, it is unlikely that this will be announced officially, the publication says.
