On Monday, September 16, Alexander Lukashenko received a report from the head of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Belarus, Vladimir Orlovsky.

The meeting discussed issues related to ensuring the transit of goods and providing assistance to organizations in the context of Western sanctions.

In particular, the issue of reorientation towards the eastern direction was considered separately.

The situation with payments and replenishment of the budget through the work of customs officers was also discussed, as was the topic of combating smuggling.

Three questions

What is the situation with the transit of our goods and how is customs involved in this assistance for our enterprises? – the President’s press service quotes him as saying.

The second question was related to customs payments and replenishment of the republic's budget. The head of state called it one of the most important.

Alexander Lukashenko asked: what is the current dynamics compared to previous periods and the past year.

The third issue is security. Customs plays a vital role in ensuring security - both for the state and for our citizens. What is the situation with smugglers? - asked the Belarusian leader.

Western direction

I also asked Orlovsky what his opinion was regarding the prospects for the situation on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border and in the western direction.

Speaking about this, Lukashenko noted the “fury” of his western neighbors, who decided to close the checkpoints.

Naturally, it was possible to brush this aside, to say that sanctions were imposed, we do not trade with the West as before. But it is a transit country, he noted.

In this regard, he emphasized the importance of an appropriate competent assessment, in particular in the southern and western directions.

Your point of view, your view, especially in terms of the future, the President said.

He also suggested that his interlocutor discuss other issues of interest to him, including personnel issues.
