Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York because the United States is not the best travel destination today.
Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced this on September 10.
His statement is quoted by MIA "Russia Today" .
Answering the question of why the Russian president once again decided not to speak at the UN General Assembly, the Kremlin spokesman noted that the United States is not fulfilling its obligations as the host country of the UN in the best possible way.
Therefore, now, this is probably not the best destination for travel, ” added the press secretary of the head of the Russian state.
Earlier, Putin approved the composition of the Russian delegation of 10 people to the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
It will take place on September 22-23. The Russian delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
