On September 5, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the appointment of Andriy Sybiga to the post of head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This was reported by the Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak in his Telegram channel.
According to Zheleznyak, 258 deputies voted for the appointment of Sibiga.
Earlier, the Ukrainian parliament approved the resignation of Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who had held this position since 2020.
Before his appointment as head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sibiga held the position of first deputy head of the foreign policy department.
Sybiga was born in Zboriv, Ternopil region in 1975, graduated from Ivan Franko Lviv University with a degree in international relations.
In 1997, he began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working both in the central office of the department and in embassies.
In 2012-2016, he headed the Department of Consular Service, and in 2016-2021, he held the position of Ambassador to Turkey.
In 2021-2024, he held the post of Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, and since 2024, First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
