The Kremlin commented on Turkey's application to join BRICS.
The application will be considered, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on September 4.
His statement is quoted by TASS .
On September 2, Bloomberg reported that Türkiye had applied to join BRICS several months ago.
Turkey has applied for full membership. We will consider it, Ushakov said.
According to Bloomberg, the issue of BRICS expansion may be considered at the organization’s October summit in Kazan, to which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been invited.
Yesterday, the official representative of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party, Omer Celik, said that the Turkish leader has repeatedly expressed a desire to join BRICS, but there are no concrete decisions yet.
BRICS was founded in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil, with South Africa joining in 2011.
On January 1, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Ethiopia joined the association.
